Chapter Eight

Alex sat at the kitchen counter—paperwork spread out in front of him—and tried to concentrate. Bringing anything home from the station had been a mistake, but with the weight of work that accompanied the Rasputin case, Alex had no time for the more mundane administrative tasks that came with his rank. He had two box files worth of memos, holiday requests, statistical reports and junk mail to catch up with, but he wasn’t getting very far. Conor pottered quietly around the kitchen, cleaning up after their evening meal. It wasn’t the clink of china and cutlery that disturbed Alex, it was Conor’s bare torso. He wore a pair of faded jeans that sat precariously on his hips and looked like they might slip at any moment. Nothing else.

“It’s your own fault.” Conor stretched to put some glasses away on a high shelf and Alex dropped his pen for the third time.

“What is?” Alex pretended that he didn’t know what Conor was talking about.

Conor turned, rested against the cupboards and gave him a shy smile. “It wasn’t my choice to be wandering around half dressed.”

Alex grunted and pretended to read. “You didn’t have to obey me.” He looked up cautiously.

“Oh, really? Now let me recall your exact words… Hmm… Oh yes, I think you said something like ‘the shirt stays off unless you want it torn into little pieces’. Or did I mishear you?”

Alex adjusted his position on his stool to accommodate his rapidly swelling cock. “I’m just practicing my character.”

Conor chuckled. “You don’t fool me for a minute, Alex. You don’t have to role play to be dominant, it’s your natural state.”

Alex steepled his fingers and tried to judge whether Conor was teasing him. Conor looked calm enough. His smile was a little quirky and he was peeking from beneath his lashes in the adorable way he did when he was nervous. Alex resisted the urge to grab him and bend him over the nearest available flat surface.

“And what if that’s true?” He tried to keep his voice low and unthreatening.

Conor chewed on his lower lip and stuck his hands in his pockets. “Why don’t you try me and see?”

“Oh God…” Alex muttered the words before he could stop himself. Buying some time, he gathered his papers into a neat pile and put the lid on his fountain pen. There were so many things he wanted to do to the beautiful man in his kitchen, so many demands he wanted to make. The idea of Conor bending to his will, submitting to him, was a turn-on that he doubted could ever be beaten. But he needed to take it slowly. Conor might well be a natural submissive, but he was not experienced in the scene. Alex thought it unlikely that Conor had ever seen the inside of a BDSM club or playroom, but what a pleasure it would be to show him, to teach him.

“Come here and stand in front of me.”

Conor moved gracefully and stood where he was told, legs slightly apart, hands clasped behind his back.
